Joshua’s Dream
Born April 19, 2005, and purchased as a foal for $135,000 in Lexington, Kentucky, Joshua’s Dream, a descendant of Secretariat, had a future on the track. He spent his younger years running at various tracks. He raced his final race at Del Mar and was sent to Turf Paradise where a trainer purchased him in a claims race with aspirations of running him again. Unfortunately, at this time, Joshua’s race career would end abruptly because too much abuse and too many debilitating forced injuries that would deem him no longer an asset. Joshua still had work to do. He came to live at Reigning Grace Ranch in 2012 and has been a model of breaking statistics ever since. Many doctors told us he would never walk again and would have to live out his days in a 10×10 stall. The ranch is a place of Hope, Discovery and Redemption, so we were not going to give up on this big guy yet. After a year of rehabilitation, Joshua was deemed well enough to be turned out among other horses and eligible for light riding. He quickly partnered with our Alpha Mare Shiloh and her side kick Keturah to create a bond that I believe healed him. He is another staple and part of the original founding herd of Reigning Grace Ranch. He is 17 hands tall, all legs and a huge heart. He continues to spread hope that the impossible can be done.
