Rufio

Rufio

A feral Rio Verde horse that was still nursing on his mother, Sugar, when we rescued the horses in Rio Verde; Rufio received his name because his black short mane stood straight up in the air like a mohawk and he reminded us of one of the lost boy’s, Rufio, in the movie “Hook.” Rufio is a flea bitten gray, half-brother to Genesis. Rufio is quiet in his demeanor, extremely sweet and has a kick of spice when he needs to. Rufio can be found three times a day, enjoying is mid-morning, after-noon and late after-noon naps in the sunshine. Rufio knows how to live the good life. He is inseparable from his little brother Genesis. The night Gensis was born, Rufio was at the hospital for an overnight surgical procedure. When he came back, there was a new baby attached to his mom. This made Rufio very confused and sad, but he quickly came around and soon all three were hard to separate, they would even sleep all together in a 10×10 stall. Today, Rufio and Genesis are pretty hard to separate. They look after each other as family should. They are a living testimony that blood is thicker than water.
