What is the Butterfly Effect?

For girls age 10 to 15 years old

The Butterfly Effect is a journey of self-discovery, of finding your worth and your joy by learning to see yourself through God’s eyes. This program will challenge participants to be raw, real and vulnerable in a way never experienced before. To push beyond established comfort zones and explore the things the world has taught us to cover, hide and keep secret.

It is the goal of this program to help participants to realize a new understanding and love for self, for self-discovery, and for the realization of the great worth, we have already been given. We often see ourselves as ugly, “less than,” caterpillar-like creatures with little value. We allow our life experiences to negatively define us. But through the Word of God, we can see ourselves as He does, not as a caterpillar, but as a butterfly, full of beauty and wonder and value.

Over eight weeks, we will discuss topics such as self-worth, self-esteem and self-love, all biblically backed and biblically based. We will address topics such as shame, guilt, and fear as well as the things that make us feel unworthy, unwanted and unloved. It is the hope of this project, that through this process, participants will learn a God-centered self-perspective and want to spread this new-found self-love and self-confidence to others, creating a kind of migration of true beauty.

At the end of the eight weeks, participants will understand that life will always have struggles that can create self-doubt, but they will leave the program equipped with tools to help them navigate through the lies, and reclaim their joy. They will learn to love themselves because God loved first.

Activities will include journaling, arts, and crafts, activities with horses, developing relationships and much more.
