We recently had Barrow Cleft and Craniofacial Center out to RGR and this is what they had to say….

Hello Amanda, Chris, Staff, and Volunteers,

We here at Barrow Cleft & Craniofacial Clinic would like to extend our thanks for allowing us to come out and spend an afternoon with you. The participants were over the moon with their experience. We want to thank you for working with us and volunteering your time. We understand that the mentors are volunteers and we so greatly appreciated everything they did. Not only did the kids enjoy their time, but the families and staff enjoyed their time as well. You made the experience memorable and made every one of us feel welcome and at home.

We would like to share one particular story from the day’s events. There was one girl in particular, who was very nervous and afraid to be near her horse and was hesitant to lead it. She is normally quiet and shy. At one point she was crying because she did not trust herself to lead the horse. The mentor that she was with did a wonderful job in supporting her and her feelings. Most of the time the girl kept her distance from the horse but still participated in all the exercises. As the session went on, she began to get more comfortable with the horse and began to get closer to it. When it came time to climb on the horse, she was afraid to get on. She made it up the steps but couldn’t quite bring herself to get on. At this time, the mentor took her aside away from everyone to work with her and coach her. After Chris came over with his encouragement, the girl decided to get on her horse! We were so proud of her.

Each patient had their own story of success that day for various reasons and it truly raised their spirits and ours.

We can only imagine the progress you get with the children during an 8-week session. We can’t thank you enough for opening your ranch and hearts and allowing us to come out. We look forward to working with you in the future!

Thank you,

Lori
