One of the biggest reasons why the Reigning Grace Ranch is so special is because of YOU! There’s no way we could be where we are today with the support of our volunteers and donors and that is why we want to hear from you. Everyone has a unique story and we¬†want to use your voice to share it with others because the ranch is special for so many reasons but your stories are truly what makes it special for us!

This week we want to share the following story from Nancy Godwin who thought perhaps if she wrote something about
why she wanted to become involved, it might encourage others to volunteer as well. ūüôā

“I had worked outside the home all my life, raised a family, and for seven years in retirement cared for my mother. ¬†Now in my final
chapters and free of many responsibilities life brings, the question was how to construct this final phase?  I wanted a simple,
uncomplicated existence but one with meaning and purpose.  I was lead to North Chapel Church in Fountain Hills where I read of their
outreach ministry at Reigning Grace Ranch.  At RGR rescued horses and at-risk youth are nurtured through a mentorship program for the youth that incorporates life lessons and love by caring for and learning about the horses.  What a beautiful concept!  So I signed up for a
tour.  Driving up to the ranch I was impressed by how neat, clean and inviting it was.  The horses were well cared for and the people were
friendly.  As I looked out over the beautiful surrounding mountains and listened to the stories about the horses and learned what they do
with the children, a peace washed over me.  In today’s world of anger, violence, and lack of truth, it often seems we have lost our footing.
The Reigning Grace Ranch mentorship program instills ethics and values and the ranch is a sanctuary from the world, a place of healing not
only for the horses and children but also those that serve.  I knew I wanted to be a part of this special place as a volunteer.  But how
could they use an older woman from the East with little horse experience?   Amanda reminded me that God doesn’t call the equipped, he equips the called.  And so it begins…
